Google Adsense Apology
December 31st 2009 08:46
I posted the following on the Writers' Forum on the 20th of December 2009, but it hasn't yet been approved by Orble management for posting there. I do not know why, but, that fact alone makes answers to the questions I posed all the more pressing and important.
In the interests of achieving an open dialogue, I am posting my original Writers' Forum post below. Please read it and take it in. Any comments would be welcome.
ORIGINAL WRITERS FORUM POST TITLE:
Did everyone get the Google Adsense apology?
DATE:
December 20th 2009 04:41
My stats went to zero again, this time with my new site screentrek.com, which I have been operating for about a month and posting on it regularly.
Then Google sent the following apology (in red) yesterday...
But first, some outstanding questions that management need to answer;
1: What is going on with Orble and the continuing mysterious zero stats reports?
2: How has that affected my earning capacity?
3: Who checks Google Adsense to make sure that they are doing the right thing by us, that is, how can it's stats be independantly verified?
4: Does Orble have an unsolved technical problem and is not functioning properly?
5: Why isn't Orble admin addressing these problems in this technical problems blog?
6: Has Orble admin had their working time cut so severely that they cannot address these problems?
Here is Google Adsense's email and I quote it in its entirety;
QUOTE:
Hi,
As a publisher using link units on your pages, we're writing to let you know about a recently resolved reporting issue that affected your account.
We discovered an issue with the way earnings from link units were being shown in publisher accounts, which resulted in some of your ad unit earnings being incorrectly attributed to link units instead. However, this was only a reporting display issue and so your overall earnings and payments were not affected. We've resolved the issue, and as a result, you may now notice slight differences when you look at reports for previous months. Specifically, when you generate separate reports for link units and ad units, you may see that earnings from link units on a particular day have decreased, but that the ad unit earnings for the same day have increased by the same amount.
Again, please be assured that your aggregate earnings and payments were unaffected, so you've been credited for all valid clicks and impressions. In addition, this issue has not affected your ad performance in any way.
Your reports will now accurately reflect your earnings from link units and ad units -- we apologize for the inconvenience and any confusion caused.
Sincerely,
The Google AdSense Team

Why do I not feel reassured?
Without any knowledge of how we can independantly check Google Adsense stats, why should anyone be satisfied?

If these questions are not addressed, that can only lead us to assume that Orble is avoiding an open dialogue on the subject.

I await explanations with intrepid anticipation...
