How Many Times Have You Admitted You Were Wrong?
May 19th 2008 08:48
We are all wrong at some point, in every day usually. How many times depends on how many people we exchange comments with, how many times we must deal with bureaucracy, and then, importantly, how many times do we readily admit we are wrong?Has the art of a balanced opinion and informed debate died?
Has the advent of FOX NEWS, and the like, destroyed the common person's ability to discern truth from propaganda? Is the way the media report things today clouding people's ability to objectively respond to information, that may challenge the official stance, of any particular situation? Is attacking the messenger, instead of dealing with each fact, or suspicion, in an open and objective manner, justified?
Are the great global corporate entities changing society, whether we like it or not?
If one does come to the conclusion that the big global corporate world has entered into a cabal, with big global military, how do we stand up to it?
What happens if we do, is this what stops people from coming forward and whistle blowing?
Today, I read numerous articles, and interviews with people regarding the curious suicide of Dr. David Kelly, the British scientist who blew the whistle on the British Government, regarding distortion of the truth about Iraq's weapons of mass destruction, and its ability to launch a missile attack in 45 minutes. It was all untrue as it turns out.
However, three days after Dr. Kelly gave evidence to the enquiry, he was dead.
He had taken a huge amount of pills, allegedly, and then slit his left wrist and bled to death.
Or did he?
The lack of blood loss found at the site of his body was remarked upon by the ambulance officers who attended the scene. The doctor hated taking any kind of pill, the knife found, bloodied, by his side was very blunt, yet he was apparently able to reach the deepest artery in his wrist, again allegedly. The coronial examination remarks about the discolouration of the lower parts of his body, usual for the dead, but only if there is enough blood in the system, and considering that half blood loss could equate to death, the discolouration was far greater than expected of someone who had slashed their wrist and bled to death.
The autopsy made no mention of loss of blood. The police failed to take finger prints from the knife, or the bottle of half drunk water, which weirdly was found sitting upright next to the left side of his head, cap next to it, yet he was right handed. Only a small amount of the drug was found in his body.
So, another "conspiracy theory" establishes itself. Those interviewed who came forward, after the death, had evidence inexplicably disappear, and threats made directly to them.
And we are left where?
Is it the sign of objectivity to always attack a conspiracy as being made by bored fantasists, or is that just allowing the truth to slip away, disappearing into the dust of time?
Remember, a conspiracy theory is when there is suspicion, but no evidence.
A conspiracy, is when there is evidence that contradicts the official explanation of events, yet this evidence is being ignored!!!

we live in "interesting times", as an old Chinese philosopher used to say.
As for my predilection towards conspiracy, I am only attracted to the real injustices and the obvious cover ups, trouble is, there are just so many these days...

I take that as a given, not a question anymore.
There are so many free energy people dead too, also with so much evidence un-used and yet a case like the Chamberlain baby, is paraded around in front of the populace eyes for years ...
It begs the question, doesn't it? ... as does Kelly's un-timely death and all serves to remind me of my own friend and councillor who also went under strange circumtances?
Is it perhaps the result of the idealist meeting the awful truth of the oxymoronic, 'free' engineered society we live in ?
We may never know.
Great post as always,
Lilla ...

when I watch the News I watch Channel 0, its funny al the commercial channels basically have identical news, Channel 0 barely even runs the stories you see on the others except for 1 or 2 cross overs daily.

Well, based on the info your article fog, I can see why you have suspicions about Kelly's death...I'll have to do more reading on it. But nothing surprises me anymore...

have you posted about your friend's death? I'd like to read it actually, if you are up to it that is.
The more we chat, and share, the less the grip the big nasties have on us in my opinion..

I agree totally, the news is pathetic and just a repitition of the same stories with the same right wing undetones, even if it is by omission of criticism where it is due.
ABC has become less analytical, because of the Howard government interference, and placement of its yes men, what is happening now I am unsure of, and SBS, I agree generally it gives better coverage, and it does cover many of the same areas, however, it often shows the opposing side's view, so one gets a more balanced report than on the other channels.

there is a lot online about it, with the original interviews of some of the whistleblowers, it makes interesting reading, and scarier ponderings about who was really behind it all...some sites suggest it was Iraqi loyalists, to the new leadership, who did not want info to come out about how they fed the USA and British psy services with exaggerated and mostly disinformation, in order to effect an invasion by the West. However, it was also interesting to see that the CIA were backers of these peole and the West appointed head of State of Afghanistan.
As usual, these areas of intrigue are always full of false info and whatnot, so who knows. One thing that does seem true, the poor guy didn't kill himself.
Or if he did, he slashed his wrist somewhere else, then his body somehow ended up in the woods...but then, he didn't suffer massive blood loss to effect death, according to the site that saw the autopsy info.....hmmm...

We had a case in Melbourne, many years ago, where the wife (or girlfriend?) of a cop was found to have shot herslef to death...with a rilfe...through both her hands in a defensive manner, through the chest, and the back of the head....ahem...yes that was one of the local police force's greatest moments of forensic science!

apparently no need for the cuffs, she was too busy blocking the path of the bullets with her open hands to put cuffs on herself, which is slack of her I know, any self respecting self terminating person by mutliple rifle shots from the front and rear should have cuffed herself up too...
