Mists swirling, within one's mind, gather and dissipate; moments flicker, into spams of fear, then abate again, for hatred inflicted, bears the cancer, of another's soul. what does death look like?

July 13th 2008 09:28

what does death look like?
a snarl or smile,
beginning to beguile,
or lash and lambaste,
a travelling soul in haste?

does death greet and meet,
lend a friendly hand,
guide to open doors,
or stand apart,
laughing heartily,
as a soul falls through,
gaping spiritual flaws?

is God a mod,
or an implacable,
conservative force,
or is She or He,
a solar wind,
blowing ones identity,
across a voluminous,
yet vacuous universe?

is living, the real Hell,
contrary to Christian myth,
does that ring true,
a knowing knell,
for some, not others,
who think life a whip,
beating the back,
of one's grip?

when do we let go,
to allow another to throw,
their hat into the ring,
the fight and flight,
of good and bad within,
this farce we call,
our human nature?

is it ok to stand,
aside and slide,
through deadly doors,
diving into Death's arms?

from cot to coffin,
we all pop,
one way t'other;
the cool caress,
of internal sight,
ending our light,
upon weary march,
stopping, yet beginning,
for some,
a good night.

P.S. I know it is awful doggerel, but, I had to put something down today, and looking up jokes, or worse, something to rant about, was just not in me; too tired, emotionally, physically and spiritually.

maybe death really does look like Brad Pitt in Meet Joe Black . . . my luck he would be more like the psycho in No Country For Old Men

to embrace death or fight it tooth and nail until the bitter end? interesting question . . .

great poem Fog!

tanx Morgan;

there some stand,

lose and lie,
toast or fry...

Keeping death at bay is quite difficult but it pays off in renewed energy and a weird bemusement (not morally correct).

The poem gives the options with the warmth of speculation. I'm glad it's there, if only for inspiration.

Good questions, Fog.

A beautiful, vivid poem.

Regardless of anyone's religious beliefs - I'd like to think that the transition is a little like the transition from conception to new born - and that the conscious state makes way for a heightend awareness.

Afterall - our bodies are really only the form we carry our physical selves in so as our friends, family and others can recognise us from day to day.

Lovely piece Fog - thought provoking and as insightful as ever.

Hi MNG,
thanks for your comments,

yes I agree our physical bodies are but temporary vessels for our spiritual being.

Death is but a transition, something even Einstein would agree about, however, his idea of transition was more along the lines of the atomic, not the spiritual!

cheers
