EPIPHENOMENOM!!
August 17th 2008 07:47
Saw this word and thought of my pal Epiphanie! So cheers to dear Epiphanie and please find following what this bizarre word EPIPHENOMENOM means.
Also, as Epiphanie's name is derived from the word EPIPHANY which means;
(Oxford Shorter Dictionary): "Manifestation of Christ to the Magi, or of a divine being."
From the Greek: epiphaneia.
So, Epiphanie's name is pretty special, and so she must be pretty special as well!! This means, one could say of Epiphanie, "Oh, she is DIVINE!" and be literally truthful! hehe!
Now, the definition of the word EPIPHENOMENON:
Definition:
noun: 1. A secondary phenomenon, one resulting from another.
2. An additional symptom appearing during the course of an illness, but not necessarily related to it.
Etymology:
From Greek epi- (upon, after, over) phainomenon (that which appears), from phainesthai (to appear).
So there you go Epiphanie...let us just think that, [I]no you are not an 'additional symptom of illness' , you are but descended from The Devine Realm, a little angel sent to Earth to thwart evil and help point the way, to enlightenment!!
Does this now mean we can call you "angel draws"??

How fabulous to have been part of the inspiration for this post! I thank you kindly for this exploration of epiphanies and epiphenomena, and reminding me about the exact Christian origins of the word as well (I often focus on the more contemporary usage of epiphany).
As for epiphenomena, I think every phenomenon is related in some way to another, so it's a neat word to have on hand. I had heard it in various contexts, but never bothered to acquaint myself with it properly until now, so thank you!
And again, thank you for thinking of me, it's very sweet! <3
