BLAH! BLAH!! BLAH!!!

Now, before you dismiss the title of this pithy epistle, I wish to defend its use here; many times throughout english language history has this phrase, "blah, blah, blah!" been uttered, both in jest and in jibe, both verbally and written, within many genres of literature, from the comedic and satirical, to the cartoon and juvenile, this seemingly inane and at times contemptuous utterance, "Blah, blah, blah" has appeared and entertained, with like and dislike, through the ages.
Of course, as I am no etymologist, I cannot give a definitive history of this amazing phrase for all seasons, however, I would suggest it may originate from America, most likely within a comedic context, and it has spread far and wide ever since.
Puritans, republicans, politicians, the filthy rich down to the plain filthy, from reverends to rabbis, and the hordes of hoi polloi across the world, have all relied on its effective rebuttal; both to cease an unpleasant moment and stem the tide of verbal assault, or for pure humorous social advantage and effect.
I stand here today in defence and support of this august phrase, for its fabulously monosyllabic form, fooling the unwary with its deceptive dumbness, this once oft used and simple phrase, which is so more deserving of recognition, for its effectiveness and variety of use, than many other more pompously polysyllabic phrases, which by their complex nature are inevitably less effective as a retort, and so, hereby, this momentous day, I now nominate "blah, blah, blah" for "Phrase and/or Retort of the Year Award."
I thank you.
