Massive Japanese Quake & Tsunami : may be just the start
March 11th 2011 13:14
It is dreadful news to hear of the massive earthquake and resultant tsunami that has devastated Japan's Eastern Coast.
The images are incomprehensible, it looks unreal, like toys in a muddy messy kids pool, then you realise they are cars, buses, whole houses and ships being smashed and swirled across inland Japan.
The image of the Samoan tsunami, above, shows how far and powerful they are, and this was no where near the size and intensity of the Japanese tsunami that hit Japan's East Coast just seven hours ago now.
Many small islands in the Pacific are in great danger, as the wave could pass straight over the top of many of the smaller and populated islands.
And this is not the end of it, as we have no reports from all the other areas on Japan that the tsunami is headed for right now, as I type.
I rang my sister, who lives in San Diego, when I saw a tsunami warning for the West Coast of USA, she was in bed, her hubby turned on the TV, they were amazed, but, like Japan, they live in a volatile area for quakes, so they went back to bed, even though San Diego is in a bad position for a tsunami, as there is no where to run to, being low level and boxed in my mountain far behind. My sister lives just two blocks from the sea front...
My heart goes out to all the poor families now suffering and to those who have had everything they owned, including their house, car, farm etc destroyed in a matter of seconds.
Five nuclear reactors have been shut down, they say there is no concern for radiation leakage, for now.
Oil refineries are burning out of control, entire coastal villages may have been wiped off the map.
Just two weeks ago we saw Christchurce suffer a massive destructive quake, yet that was only a 6.4 or so, this Japanese quake was 8.9, way over 100 times more intense than the Christchurch quake.
Now I see, as I type, huge ships of all kinds lying on their sides against city buildings, it is like a Hollywood disaster movie.
I wish I could say, after we help Japan recover, and Christchurch, that we can relax.
But no. I have been following the patterning for many years, and the occurrence of large and destructive earthquakes appear to be increasing. Two days ago China was hit again by a destructive quake. The last ten years has seen many large and destructive quakes..
The Earth is not a static enitity, it is 'alive', if you like. Humans exist in a small epoch of benign climate and geological conditions, but this will not always be so.
I suspect it will get even worse from here on. These is nothing we can do, except ride it out, if we are lucky enough, and live each day as if it is our last.
Peace to those who have suffered.
And to those people on tiny islands in the Pacific, I just hope the tsunami heading your way is not as devastating.
Hawaii is evacuating everyone from its coastline right now, as they are expecting the tsunami soon. Let's hope no more lives are lost, although, by the look of the terrbile images in Japan, I fear the death toll we be very large.
Japan, you are in my thoughts and prayers.

I'm glad to hear your sister is okay.
I hope she isn't anywhere near the nuclear reactors that are running out of control...
and yes, the weather is cold up there now, in the north, and without heating it must be dreadful, but, the Japanese are very organized and industrious, so I am sure they will have things under control as soon as possible, and your sister will be safe.
Noor, in what part of Japan is she staying?
cheers

hehe!
You have a black sense of humour Noor!
I think she should come home now, as the nuclear problem may get a lot worse, and, that company has not revealed radiation leaks in the past, according to Japanese newspapers.
cheers matey,
