Mists swirling, within one's mind, gather and dissipate; moments flicker, into spams of fear, then abate again, for hatred inflicted, bears the cancer, of another's soul. ELEVENTH OF SEPTEMBER

September 11th 2011 17:39
I originally wrote this poem one week after the terrible events of "911", in 2001. I was shocked, angry, dismayed and I was frightened that we were headed into World War 3.

What has happened since is nothing for the West to be proud of, but what is much worse, is what I have discovered about the events, and the fact that we have not been told the truth, regarding aspects of the events on 9-11-2001.

My Ode to Elizabeth Taylor

March 23rd 2011 17:00
The Great, Dame Elizabeth Taylor

We have lost the great Dame Elizabeth Taylor. I loved her from the first moment I saw her, as a seven year old, in the grand epic, Cleopatra. I followed her career in film all my life, and still regard some of her work as second to none

Ode for Ian

November 9th 2009 08:23
The following Ode is for a man that I greatly admired.
Ian Cookesley was an enormous source of support and encouragement for many students at NIDA and he continued that support throughout his long professional career, particularly at The Melbourne Theatre Company. I think Ian would have been surprised to know just how many people really appreciated him.
Personally, I am forever in Ian's debt, not just for his thoughtful support at NIDA, but also for gaining me my first professional engagement.

West Gate of the Soul

January 30th 2009 08:01
I have just written the following, an emotional outburst, in response to hearing about the murder of this little girl today, (in Melbourne), it is just beyond comprehension. Her father, stopping the family car on the huge West Gate Bridge, got out, calmly walked to the barrier with his four year old baby, and threw her over the side, 17 stories to the water below. He then drove off, with his two other young children, still in the back of the car, later he was found wandering with them in the city, sobbing and raving.

I am not here to condemn him, as such, I just need to express my incredulity as to why, how, could someone do this, especially a parent? I can only hope she had instantly gone into extreme shock, and her mind floated her away from her terrible reality, into a calm and quiet place, somewhere she felt warm and snug, and loved, as she descended through the air to the water below, and into God's hand. Pax little one

Chewing stale macadamias

January 1st 2009 16:18
The following poem is my first for 2009. I had made a New Year's resolution, to not sully my beautiful new fountain pen with odes of angst, however, like all well intentioned resolutions I have slipped, slightly, with a tincture of ascerbic wit. The only consolation for braking my promise being, I include myself in the broad swipe I make at people's failure, in keeping their promises.

Happy New Year to all!!

I dedicate the following poem to an erstwhile friend. A person whom did not deserve my friendship, nor shall ever regain my trust, nor bask in my supportive presence again. This ode is my personal, spiritual astringent; to wash and strip away, to exorcise, any remnants of forgiveness I may naturally harbour, and relegate this loathsome parasitical opportunist to the public sewer, where he belongs. And I enjoyed writing every single syllable of it! I hope you too will enjoy it, as much as the spectators of the Roman Colosseum relished watching the lions, tear apart the hapless Christians!

Definition of Self-Torture: Mediocre talent craving critical success!
