Calling all Dope lovers!

Here is an amusing little film that will tickle your ribs! It is a short doco made by the US Dept. of Agriculture, and it is encouraging farmers to grow hemp, that is marijuana! (They use the Mexican/Spanish root for the spelling, marihuana)
The film is entitled Hemp for Victory! It was a war time doco used to get support for the needs of the US Navy, which used hemp for its rope. The source was cut off by the Japanese, so the US government decided to enlist support to grow it at home. Looks like we were all born in the wrong era... well, when I was a young uni student I would have thought that, this film would have made my week!
Check it out, it will give you a laugh and a smirk, considering how the US government and ours treat dope growers and smokers these days!

It is often stated that a conspiracy by corporate entities caused the wonderfully useful hemp plant to be criminalised. They wanted industry to use the new nylon rope, instead of hemp, but the trouble was, hemp was just so perfect for the job, much better than nylon in fact. So, they had to get rid of their competition another way.
Not too long afterwards, "Reefer Madness" was made, which I saw as a young stoned dude, at the flicks, it was run at the Manly SIlver Screen, during the monthly mini-marathon they put on for us stoners on a Friday night.
It was just so over the top, so corny and ludicrous, everyone used to fall out of their chairs, laughing, into the aisles.
Those were the days...

I've always found it interesting that the two drugs, magic mushrooms and marijuana, that grow naturally from the earth are outlawed, does that maybe seem a little 'unnatural' to you.

QUOTE ME NO QUOTES!
yes, it is nothing more than a government infomercial of an era past.
It is interesting, that mushies and dope were made illegal, only tobacco and booze, the two biggest killers and health wreckers by a country mile, are legal because the big end of town makes money out of them.
In the 70's rumors were rife that big tobacco had started preparing for the legalisation of marijuana, to the point of developing the packaging and marketing strategies.
Suggested brand names like Acapulco Gold and Panama Red were bandied about. Which were the street names for particularly strong types of dope.
But, in researching this today, I have found out that it was an urban myth, but, no big tobacco company will even talk about that subject, which suggests they indeed looked into the possibility.
Well, why the hell not? It would have made them billions of dollars more.
