PRESIDENT MUBARAK, SHOW DECENCY, RESIGN NOW!
February 6th 2011 19:10
The good people of Egypt are still fighting for freedom, for true democracy, not some sham supported by the West for their own vested interests!
We, in the West, swagger around boring everyone about how our political system is the right way, the only way.
We blather on and on about how great our freedoms are, how we may vote for whomever we please, and that our laws enshrine our rights to live peacefully and not be discriminated against because of race, colour, creed or sexuality.
But then, when the Western nations want an unfair economic advantage over their competition, they will bribe, threaten and even prop up despicable dictators, just to ensure they make the most profit, so "our way of life" may be protected, by the subjugation of others in developing nations.
Egypt is no exception.
Mubarak has been very useful to the West, he has ensured no fundamentalist groups may form, he is a friend of Israel and the USA, and he knew how to play international politics for the good...no...not of his country, it seems now, but for the good of his continued rule (30 years now) until the planned ascension of his son, and, for his family's continued enrichment, at the cost of his country, to the sum of many, many billions of dollars.
Mubarak allowed the CIA and other clandestine groups to drop off suspected terrorists or insurgents, so his torturers could convince the hapless victims it was better to admit to being a terrorist, whether guilty or not, than to be tortured to death. Sure, some were real insurgents, some real terrorists, but as our press continue to discover, and thanks to...
DARE I SAY IT...
WIKILEAKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(SFX: CLAP OF THUNDER, LIGHTENING STRIKE, EVIL WITCHES CACKLING, DOGS HOWLING)
We have found out the lies, the distortions of truth, the terror campaigns committed by our own countries, the sham trials and tainted evidence, the coercion for conviction, and after all that, the vast majority of people were released, innocent of all claims against them.
But now, those same people may well be thinking that we in the West deserve everything we get, and frankly, it is hard to argue against that attitude, considering what these people have been put through.
This is not ranting hyperbole, but fact. The USA itself tortured and humiliated people in its own prisons in Iraq, and deaths also occured.
More of these terrible images were going to be released, but president Obama decided it was not in the (US) national interest.
We may forget these dreadful indictments against the West, but the Arabs never will.
We have a long road to travel to develop trust and mutual repsect, on both sides.
The following images all were taken in Abu Ghraib prison, in Iraq, and were part of evidence submitted in court martial trials against soldiers involved. The great lie perpetrated was, 'officially', no one in the top brass knew this was going on...really? Looks kind of all out in the open to me...
Most of these people were innocent of any attack on USA military, but, it would seem the US Government did not care; they just wanted numbers, to make themselves look as if they were doing something.
Well, chickens have come home to roost...
The people of Egypt do not want arrest without warrant, detention without trial or representation, they do not want systematic torture of anyone who criticises Mubarak and his band of evil clowns, they want peace, they want human rights, they want to live and work without fear or favour and that means the vast majority do NOT want Sharia Law.
If the Egyptian protestors did want Sharia Law, I’d say bugger them!
But the majority want true freedom, and separation of powers; religion, judiciary and government to remain spearate.
The Egyptian people want what our governments tell us we already enjoy, in our own countries.
But, there is the only problem in all this; should Mubarak step down, should the people of Egypt get proper, open, fair elections and laws, they well may end up with a better, more truthful and more open and protective system than we currently 'enjoy' in the West, thanks to Bush, Blair, Howard et al. Those bizarre Hitler fascist inspired anti-terror laws have not been repealed, and probably never will be. Just like the actual truth about the events on September 11, 2001, will remain occluded.
I shall never forget writing to my own Federal Government, to Prime Minister Rudd, asking about when will he demand Australia has a Bill of Rights enshrined in law, (in case you were wondering, we do not have such a document) and the response from one of his factotums was, 'We cannot have a Bill of Rights, we cannot allow people the right to bear arms!'
WHO THE HELL WAS TALKING ABOUT GUNS?
I SURE AS HELL WASN'T!!!
In closing;
PLEASE HELP AVAAZ PUT PRESSURE ON MUBARAK TO STAND DOWN; by signing the world wide petition demanding that President Mubarak steps down from office immediately!
THE FOLLOWING IS THE SIMPLE STATEMENT YOU MAY ADD YOUR NAME TO, I HAVE ALREADY, SO HAS 637,997 OTHERS SO FAR!!!
"We stand with the people of Egypt in their demand for freedom and basic rights, an end to the crackdown, and for immediate democratic reform. We call on our governments to join us in our solidarity with the Egyptian people."
No pressure, no cost, just a chance to add your name to history and then you can claim, you had a hand in bringing about democracy in Egypt.
