ONE MILLION NAMES SUPPORT TIBET, THANK YOU!
March 28th 2008 08:32
Avaaz.org thanks everyone for putting their names on the petition for Tibet, we reached 1 million, can we make it 2 MILLION? We have until 30th March '08, the petition is delivered on the 31st. This small gesture will give heart to the Tibetans, and may make the Chinese Government think about finding a fair and peaceful solution for the people of Tibet and their leader, His Holiness, The 14th Dalai Lama.
Please place your name on the petition if you have not doone so, follow this link;

For those of you who think all the recent violence was started by the Tibetans themselves, in a sense you are right, but only regarding this recent outburst.
What you must understand is, these normally peaceful people have been driven to this desperate point, after fifty years of Chinese brutal domination.
Fifty years of brutality and murder, usurption of their sovereign rule, and exile of their head of government, who is also their spiritual leader, His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.
All public signage has been changed, from Tibetan language, to Chinese. All new shops and and many of the old ones are given to Chinese nationals. No Tibetan may speak out in any sort of protest, even if done privately, as we would with our local representative.
The Tibetans have no voice in their affairs anymore!
The Chinese Government seems heel bent on controlling, then probably eliminating the Tibetan culture completely.
After the unexpected death of the 10th Panchen Lama, His Holiness, The 14th Dalai Lama named Gedhun Choekyi Nyima as the new Panchen Lama, (the Tibetan Buddhists believe in reincarnation, and when one of their spiritual leaders die, they try to find him again, which takes some years, then when a number of candidates are found, they test them to see
who knows what the previous leader knew, like his few personal possessions in the monastery, mixed up with lots of other monks personal objects, which the child must identify correctly as belonging to the previous spiritual leader.

However, the Chinese Government rejected the His Holiness' choice and abducted the new Panchen Lama, placing him in solitary confinement ever since. In his place they appointed Gyancain Norbu

The Chinese Government appointed 'spiritual leader' for the Tibetan monks, Gyancain Norbu,
from his early years has been trained to ignore the traditions of selection by His Holiness The 14th Dalai Lama, this means he must be one who respects little of the Tibetan monks' beliefs and only serves the interests of the Chinese Government.
Certainly no one goes to see this young fellow for advice! He is kept secreted away in Beijing, allegedly.
Why would China reject the 14th Dalai Lama's chice of the 11th Panchen Lama?
The reason is, the Panchen Lama is charged with the responsibility to select the next leader of Tibet and Tibetan Buddhism, he chooses the next Dalai Lama!!
The political ramifications of this are obvious.

"On February 13, 2008, Qoigyijabu (or Gyancain Norbu) turned 18 years old. At about the same time, reports indicated that the Chinese government had decided that he would be elected to the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, a high-ranking position in the national government.[1] However, his appointment failed, officially because he was not yet 18. According to some analysts, the decision is a punishment of Qoigyijabu by the PRC’s government, unsatisfied because the young man would be insufficiently aggressive toward the Dalai Lama." UNQUOTE

It is interesting to note, that this article suggests the boy is resisting the Chinese Government's subversive plans to rid His Holiness The 14th Dalai Lama of his authority, by resisting criticising His Holiness.
The monks of Tibet live throughout the world today, by necessity, for if they return to their homeland, their safety cannot be guaranteed; many of them will face swift and brutal execution because they have stood up and criticised the Chinese Government and its masked genocidal policies.
The Buddhist monks, living in our Western societies, have been quietly going about their business of helping people through their good works, their meditation practices, and by setting a good moral example for us Westerners.
Maybe it is time we stood up and supported them, by putting our names to this petition, thereby recognising the importance of their beliefs and their right to exist, and as a way to recognize their continued good works in our society?
I thank everyone from Orble who have already voted, and ask that you might be kind enough to ask your friends to contribute their name to the petition as well. You have until 30th of March 2008 to do so, as the petition is being presented on the 31st.
May peace come to this spiritual place and unto those who support them.
PLEASE HELP FREE TIBET!

There's nothing very nice about Tibetan buddhist culture, but the Chinese seem to be preserving it. It's good for tourism.

Then they attack China for trying to allow Chinese people to move into Tibet and bring in modern technology. The place was a stronghold of slavery only 100 years ago. That is why the British and any American who go along with them are such horrible hypocrites. Don't worry, the monks are getting their stipend, it is the evil British Empire again.

The fact that China is a repressive regime actually suits the USA, UK and many other nations that use their cheap, almost slave, labour to manufacture their goods.
Do a little research and you will find the USA is always sounding bellicose about dictatorships, and Communism, in its public political rhetoric, yet privately they prefer it, because their corporations make more money with it being that way.
Also, their arms industry requires a near and present danger to justify the enormous government expenditure on weapons sales and development every year, hence the 911 subtefuge etc etc etc

"Jaw jaw before war war.", hehe!
Yes indeed, Winston had some clever bon mots, pity he kept interfering with the roles of the generals however, not a great military tactician!
Keep sticking it to the red necks!
