ORBLERS UNITE! STORM CANBERRA GAB FEST!!
February 12th 2008 14:26
This is a call, a call out to all Aussie Orblers to put their country first, and head on down (or up) to Canberra, to join the famous and brilliant 1000 Aussies, and help solve our country's problems!! Our overseas pals can make suggestions too!
Well, why the frig shouldn't we impose our ideas on our government's ear, that is its purpose, to listen to the people...and they always forget this in Canberra once the election is over, and of course we Aussies are infamous for our apathy and indolence, "she'll be right mate.."
No it will not, so we need to remind them! Surely we could do as well as the bunch the PM has invited?
Who are they anyway? The rich, the famous, ok, so I like Cate Blanchette and I am sure she is intelligent and her husband very nice...but REALLY!!!!! Unless the biggest problems facing Australia are roles for actors, more theatres, more finance for films etc, why would they include them? Ok, so those areas are important, particularly film, where a good return can be made on the right vehicle.
However, in that area surely George Miller would be a better choice? Ok, so I'm being a bitch, how unusual, the point is; how are the run of the mill represented, the pensioners, the socially marginalised, the poor slobs who almost made a great career for themselves, like me??
HUH?? EH WOT??!!??
And what questions and suggestions should be put to the newly incumbent Grande Pooh-Bah??
I actually sent some to him earlier today, via his online site. My questions focussed on the rights and privileges that have been stripped away from ordinary Australians, all under the now ubiquitous excuse of TERROR!!!
I hope you are all frightened now... the word 'terror 'does it all, doesn't it?
So, with all these draconian laws, they have had several failed court cases, now lawsuits are pending against the government and the biggest point to make is, we already had laws that were more than adequate to deal with any situation that may arise. Besides, the only known terrorist, that Frenchman, (Willie Bridgitte...?) managed to escape our clutches, because our security decided it was time to knock off for the weekend...remember that? Does anyone really believe that?
And what of the only known terrorist attack on our sovereign soil?
That happened at the Hilton Hotel, when the CHOGM conference was meeting there. The attack was allegedly aimed at PM Desai of India, only they killed a poor garbage man by mistake. They arrested these men from Ananda Marga, saying they did it, and convicted them!
They spent seven years in gaol, then thanks to their friends who raised enough money to contest it in the High Court, they were released and EXONERATED of the crime!!
They didn't do it...but somebody did, and many fingers pointed into the heart of the financially threatened security agencies. I'll let you figure the rest out.
So, no terrorists, and lots of laws allowing the 'authorities', to do what they damn well want, without having to answer for it.
NAY I say!! And so I did to Prime Minister Rudd today!
I await his response...
However, seriously, what questions would you like to put to the Federal Government?
What suggestions do you have that may make Australia stronger, safer, smarter, even a more amusing place to live?
Should we have hammock taxis and buses in the streets of Sydney?
Should all trains have a bar and lounge, and another carriage for the young who want to play electronic games, for free, instead of carving up the seats, drawing crap over the walls and threatening the elderly?
Love to hear them, your ideas, and I promise, I will forward them on to our Grande Pooh-Bah!!
cheers

P.S. Glad to see so many Orblers, Aus and O.S., are showing the same apathy to action that out nation is so proud of...(hence the lack of responses for questions..)
