The PIG in us all....
June 24th 2008 05:45
Morgan Bell is worried her cat, iota deville, is a spy! She should be, because many animals that live around us all day long are, in fact, members of numerous secret cabals and agencies, all with various insidious and subversive agendas, all designed to precipitate the downfall of human kind!
Of course, one could argue, how could we blame them? We have INVOLUNTARY EUTHANASIA for our life long devoted little cats and dogs, even birdies and fish too!
We decide that they are suffering, or their quality of life has deteriorated to an unacceptable level, and we have them killed! Or, we are moving interstate, to a new house, overseas, or, the dog got too big, and we have them killed, or given to the shelter, where they kill them a couple of weeks later, if no home is found.
My pug dog, whom I definitely know is a member of one of these shady organizations, is slowly losing control of her rear legs, but still getting around. When I chatted with an old ex-veterinary nurse recently, in the aisles of Coles, she suggested that Stella should be put down, without having ever met her, or knowing her nature, lifestyle, or quality of life!
Anyway, I TOTALLY SUPPORT the coming animal uprising, (read Doctor Rat, a fabulous but depressing novel about man's inhumanity to animals; starting in the research labs, as seen through the eyes of an old lab rat, that has survived his ordeals and become the technicians' pet, then the awakening of inter-breed telepathic consciousness of all animals and the ensuing global animal rebellion!), and I look forward to us all being terminated, or put in cages, or used as a test subject for a new mascara cosmetic or drug...
And to think, when I was in school, I was first taught that the difference between mankind and animals was, mankind used tools. Then LIFE Magazine took a photo of a gorilla chasing a cheetah with a club (a branch of a tree). My friend's cat used to follow us down the point, to the harbour side, while we fished from the rocks. We would break open a Sydney rock oyster, on a rock by the water's edge, and put it on our hooks. Then, one time, we heard a tapping noise behind us, what we saw was astounding, the cat had picked up a small stone and was breaking open an oyster, then ate it!
We deny that they are sentient beings, all of them...
We deny it by our actions, that they have feelings; memories, loves and hates, that they fear and pine, and fall in love, that they miss us when we are gone, and dream about us when asleep, and we ignore all this evidence because it suits us to do so, because it would inconvenience us to realize we are the willing oppressors of these creatures, and we choose to disbelieve, or avoid dwelling upon the fact that, they must know where they are in the universe, their place in life, and how we hypocrites turn traitor; to their largesse of spirit, to their egalitarian attitude to include us in their lives, and to allow us to dominate their free will, and they are all silent witness to how we ignore their suffering when it suits us, to slaughter the innocents for our dinner table, or far worse, for mercenary sport.
The Fox Hunt is not a sport of noblemen; it is the sport of psychopaths. As Oscar Wilde so delightfully summed up this vile pastime of the landed gentry,
"The unspeakable in full pursuit of the uneatable."
Here is where your pork came from, a pen just big enough to contain the pig, so it can only remain in one spot, without turning around, standing in its own shit all day, until hosed out the next morning. They eventually go mad, and become extremely aggressive; trying to bite whomever comes close to their pen. Here they stand till fat enough and then they are slaughtered.
And they call this a modern humane farming technique…
Have a nice roast dinner this Sunday everyone!
Remember, always ask for “FREE RANGE” animal products, at least the poor animals have had some quality of life before its death.
But, to continue to support this vicious system, of "intensive farming", is to deny our basic humanity.
You can ask your local supermarket and butcher to only stock free range animals, just like it used to be. If enough of us do this, and do not buy the intensive farm prouducts, they will have to stop it, and we will get cheaper free range meat products as well.
Remember, this vile and dispicable situation is not for the animals' benefit, as the industry pretends, but for maximising the companies' profits.

I agree, they should all be in gaol, or at the very least made to change the nature of what they do, so it is humane.
It totally disgusts me, I could have posted much worse, but, I wanted to make a slightly softer approach, so people can get their heads around what is going on, BEFORE they get their butterfly wing pork steaks!
cheers and glad to hear your cat is doing so well...and remember, YOUR CAT IS WATCHING YOU!!!!

So, to that end, I want people to start ramming these images down shoppers' throats, so they are informed, before they enter to buy.
Trouble is, the cheaper cuts come from these desperate and tortured animals, people like me have to make do with what I can afford, but, in my small way, I try to do something at least, buying free range when I can afford it.
cheers

who cannot be sickened? ...and yet devour these creatures they do...
If the old addage is that you are what you eat, then it is no wonder the world has also gone insane... I will not eat them, but many still do.
Who would support this?

I know, it is shocking and terrible, how could we have allowed things to degenerate to that level?
I often see footage of animals being mistreated in Africa and the Middle East particularly, and feel anger that it is allowed to go on, like working a donkey with a massively overloaded cart, flogging it when it collapses, it makes me sick!
BUT.. here we are, feeling that we are better than other nations, yet we are not, in many respects we are far worse!!

yes it is terrible, I have stopped buying pork products that are not free range, whenever economically possible, which is often, as I have altered my eating habits.
by the way, I am glad to read that you prefaced this comment with;
I undertstand the fingers have the better flavour.
As I would then suspect you and Hannibla the cannibla had a lot in common!! hehe!
