PUG PERSONS!
August 6th 2007 13:19
As I type, my lap is inhabited by one 'pug person', leaning against my desk, alternating between snuffling and snorkling when awake, and the more commonly heard sound of snoring.
Her name is Stella, she is 13 years of age, is completely deaf, going blind, just had three teeth yanked out, wobbly rear legs, but, full of life, love and, at times, humour.
I call pug dogs 'pug people', because they behave much less like a dog, than a mixture of dog, cat and human, unless they are impersonating a reindeer!
Pugs much prefer the company of humans, which is not surprising, as they are an ancient breed, which has co-existed with people since 300-400BC.
Pugs are Chinese in origin and have spent most of their existence within the walls of palaces, from the Emperor's Court in Ancient China, to the Dutch Court of William the Silent, to the English Court of William of Orange, to Queen Victoria and throughout Europe.
In fact, it is only relatively recently, within the last 150 years, that pugs came into commoner's hands, such as myself!
This new style of abode, a cottage rather than a palace, must cause some chagrin in the noble pug, but they grin and bear the new found circumstances well...and yes, they do smile too!

I love Pugs and yours looks adorable and well-loved. Fergal also sits on my lap when I'm blogging, but it does get a bit tiring typing around him!
Thanks for sharing your pics, they're great.

QUOTE ME NO QUOTES!
yes she is adorable, and very demanding at times too, but what are ya gunna do?
I read your dog article, which is what prompted me to write about Stella, and as I had photos available I could post. My 'pooter' is not doing well at the moment, which is why I can't usually post photos.
Anyhoo...taa...and chat anon!

Yes, my pooch can be very demanding at times too. He's heavily hinting at the moment for a walk but it's not going to happen...
Glad your computer was well enough for you to share the pics
