SNOWING BUCKETS IN KATOOMBA!!!

June 19th 2007 15:11
I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!!! As I write this, it is snowing like mad outside!! For those who live with this every winter...sorry...but I have never been in snow before in my life! I was so confused, when I was taking the dog out for a wee...which she refused to do....I thought it was ice! But no, I have made my FIRST SNOW BALL....and chucked it against the house....I nearly banged on my neighbour's door and made him get up with his kids for a snowball fight.

I am sorry if this seems childish of me...but this is a childhood dream come true. I come from a land of scorching summers and mild winters, no snow...EVER! All my life, especially as a kid, I had to suffer watching those American and English films at Christmas time, the white Christmas, the picture postcard views, the sleds, the snowmen....hmm....I better build a snowman tomorrow morning...and I was out there for half an hour and realized my hands were really hurting...so cold...the highway ground to a halt, when I first went out I heard them revving engines and spinning their wheels and then they just stopped and there they stay, so it is all quiet, silently snowing, eddying billows of white infusing the steady downpour of snow....GLORIOUS WONDERFUL SNOW!!! So I rang my sister in San Diego, she laughed, her American husband called out from the kitchen, 'wait till you have to shovel it to get your car out'....and I laughed because my car is now buried in the street!

I took photos, if I can get my stoopid pooter to behave itself I'll post them....ok....so only I will be impressed but that's ok too!!! YIPPPEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now to make more snow balls so I can chuck them at my nephew when he comes up....do they keep well in the freezer???

Well, i HOPE they keep well in the freezer!!! We have some in there, about 12 of them. We heard an advertisement back in January [our winter] That said for us to collect snow balls now, and save them until the first day of summer. We could get into the science center and sports plex for free with them. Tomarow is the first day of summer and at ten AM we meet the church group there. They have climbing walls, trampolines you wear a harness to jump on, and a ton of things like virtual golf. I can't wait!!!
I'd be excited to see your pics if you get them up. LOVED reading your piece!! Very fun.
Tammy
