THE CITY

What darkness lurks this island land?
Its soils enriched, by spilt blood,
the ochreman's spirit, left silent witness,
to the gaudy glare, of cities of despair.
Towering are these infernos of light,
erected through, paler mans’ fight,
to grasp the grail, transparent as greed,
filling an unholy pocket, soul empty in need.
Amongst it we stand too proudly tall,
in shadows of glass growths, with no seed,
embedded in tar, brightly war painted,
collateral collision, its deadly decoration.
Survivors of this killing course,
honour the dollar, while avoiding the hearse,
then when life, is on the wane,
we utter God's name, vain profane.
Wherever this shall lead us to,
judgement waits, sparing few,
the might of monsters, of today,
will be for nought, on judgement day!
