The Insect Orchestra

The Insect Orchestra
A garden receiving,
the call to spring,
flushes with greens,
and blushes with blooms,
summoning a slumbering,
insect orchestra.
On a cyclorama,
of pinking sky,
crowds of clouds create,
puffy white parades.
Numbers of nimbus,
corral cumulous,
causing pauses,
in their procession,
producing a proscenium.
The heavy scent breeze,
summons them all,
these insect musicians,
to their verdant stage.
Morning sun's warming,
raising house curtain,
promoting a prelude,
of croaky throaty rasping.
Cicadas calling singly,
form duets then trios,
quintets to septets,
till finally merging,
into a rhythmic,
choral thrum.
Bees underscore in chorus,
as blowflies scream soloist,
through weaving wasps',
wavering beat.
Throughout the day,
bugs boom away,
till dusk descends,
for the insect orchestra’s,
final curtain.

I'm there with you brother.
Think you'd love some of John Whittier and Alexander Smith's work.
Stay well.

I really enjoyed this poem ...reminding me of pleasant evenings sipping wine, in my swing chair ... out in my own 'jungle' ... well written, I could hear them all...
Thanks for such a pleasant jaunt.

Love everything about this from the title down. I am actually sitting with my laptop in the Sun listening to an insect Orchestra right now. The only thing missing for me to complete the image is the lack of clouds here, but you created them perfectly.
Awesome.

thanks soo much for such wonderful praise..."I am not worthy"...said in Wayne's Worldesque speak...hehe!
I too am writing as they drone and drum and thrum away on this sunny Sunday, yet I have one solitary puffy white baby cloud waiting out my window, from inside my little asbestos clad computer room, such a charming look...but at least I have a little space for me to squeeze out my thoughts in!
Reminds me, I got a lotto last night..so who knows???
I might next be writing from the deck of a gorgeous clipper sailing through the meriddean blue!
cheers
