The Mindless Chasing the Cantankerous!

January 26th 2008 07:06
25 minutes ago, I was nearly run down by a car chasing my ancient and seriously deluded pug dog Stella! I had just removed her lead and was about to pick her up, to carry her up the front stairs, when she suddenly tore off across the road to attack a beagle hound, and I ran blindly after her!!

The car came to a halt about two meters from me; the pug had made it across the road and was trying to attack the beagle, a good foot taller than her, with a hunting dog's mouth on it, but Stella has no sense of proportion or position! Luckily the beagle was a friendly dog that thought she wanted to play. Luckily for me, the driver was travelling at the speed limit and stopped in time!

All too often, cars scream down our road, driven by some idiotic teen, pretending he is in a Ferrari, when his clapped out old Toyota is all he can afford, huge chrome tail pipes connected to a only partly functioning muffler, amplifying the oil bleeding and rusted engine's sound.

Oh, then there is the tail fin, designed for high performance cars to keep the rear wheels down on the road at huge speeds, and the racing stripes, these dudes are utter losers!

They scream by you on the highway, only to be shoulder to shoulder with you at the next lights, they roar off from the lights as if in a F1 race, they are tools!

And as for me, this is now the second time I have almost been run down, by rushing after our deaf, partially blind, 14 year old cantankerous pug dog, whose rear legs are slowly becoming paralysed, yet she can still summon enormous energy and speed instantly, if she sees another dog DARE to walk near her person!

At the end of the day, however, I am the idiot..again...hopefully I have learnt my lesson, off the leash once inside the door!!

Ta Michaelie,
pugsy is snoring contentedly at my feet as I type, no doubt she will dream of today's events with a heroic and superpug view of the outcome!

Well, hmmmph, I'd like to have a day off for every time I've foolishly done the same thing. A month or two somewhere warm would be nice. I can't break the habit any more than you can fog, so I upped my life insurance policy and hope for the best. All pet lovers are nuts, or close to it, hahaha. Raven

Ha! I have a 13-year-old kelpie that's as spry as a puppy and yet deaf as a worm and she has given me similar grief!
